My name is Mrs. Swanger (SWAH-NER) and I am so happy to be your teacher! It’s going to be a fun-filled year full of new adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us! I want to learn ALL about you, but first I am going to tell you some things about me: I grew up not far from here in Cheney, WA. When I graduated high school, I moved to Moscow to go to the University of Idaho (GO VANDALS!) where I majored in Elementary Education. I was an aide in kindergarten for two years. Then I worked as a substitute teacher for a year which brought me to McDonald in 2nd grade. That is when I fell in LOVE with the McDonald Ducks! So when a third-grade position came open, I knew I had to have it! I was hired in 2014 and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it here! I believe in a balanced approach to teaching and learning including direct instruction as well as hands-on interactive learning. I use creative, energetic, and dynamic lessons to motivate students to be the best version of themselves that they can be! In return, I am motivated to be the best version of myself too!

My husband, Scott, is a graphic designer at Washington State University Foundation (GO COUGS, too!) Our son, Cameron, is in kindergarten at McDonald this year, and loves swings, Legos, anything with wheels, and playing with his cousins. Our daughter Carlee is 2 years old and loves swings, dolls, and playing “kitchen.” We love being their parents! Outside of teaching, I love camping, swimming, and going to sporting events, musicals, comedy shows, and concerts! I also love spending time with friends and family.
