Required Homework:
Research shows that extensive amounts of homework assigned in elementary school is not indicative of higher student achievement and can cause stress for students and their families. Not to mention, kids already spend nearly 7 hours in school each day, so they deserve to have their evenings to themselves for playing and being kids. Therefore, we do not provide required homework in third grade.**
Recommended Homework:
Something we try to do in third grade is help instill good habits into their lives. To help with that, we will to provide optional activities and ideas for students to get outside, be screen free, serve others, be creative and build family relationships. Each month, I will send home a calendar of optional activities to enrich students in these areas.
We will also have a weekly spelling and math facts tests, so it is recommended to work on those throughout the week as well. Each week, I will send home a list of spelling words and math facts to work on throughout the week.

** There may be times when students need some extra practice or is not finishing their work at school. I may work out a plan with students and parents to get this work completed at home on a temporary basis.
